STAR Students had the opportunity to purchase admission to the Student Council event above from October 17th to 20th.  STAR Parents, if your student paid, a member of Student Council will pass out wristbands to the homeroom teachers on Tuesday, October 25th. Parental supervision is required for this event. PLEASE make sure you and your child have those wristbands on and your running bib attached to your shirt when you arrive at the track for the event on the 25th.  If you do not pay in advance, you will NOT be able to participate. We are no longer selling wristbands to this event. If you or a close family member have a Breast Cancer Success Story you would like shared during the Color Run, please email Ms. Dinkins (kdinkins@richland2.org) a picture of the Breast Cancer Survivor along with his/her name by October 21st.  Sandlapper's Student Council Sponsors are Ms. Dinkins (kdinkins@richland2.org) and Mrs. Walker (brwalker@richland2.org). Directory Information in Parent Portal
Some of you may have received an email from Richland Two regarding your student's directory information. If you initially chose the option to not allow Richland Two to share certain information, such as name and/or photo this means that we at Sandlapper are also not able to include your child in any publications including but not limited to our yearbook, award/promotion programs, Family Night celebrations, honor rolls, etc. If you would like to change your student's choice so we can include your child(ren) in publications, such as the yearbook, watch the video below.

Dear Sandlapper Parents,

We are happy to announce, that Sandlapper Elementary School will host its 1st Blood Drive, Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 9:00 am-1:00 pm in the Gym. You will check into the front office first.  A driver's license is required to enter the building and a volunteer will escort you to the donation location.

This is a great opportunity to teach giving in November as we head into the holidays. If you can’t personally donate please encourage a friend or family member to donate on your child’s behalf. The class that recruits the most donors will receive a pizza party and every student who recruits a donor will receive a cool Red Cross Swag item. To schedule your appointment today go to RedCrossBlood.org and use sponsor code: Sandlapper or contact Genice Bailey at 803-586-1046/genice.bailey@redcross.org.  Time is of the essence so don’t delay in scheduling, your child will be happy!

Mr. Gibson, PTO President

Dear Parent/Guardian:
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) is working with your school district to provide flu vaccines at Sandlapper Elementary School on November 9th. This year DHEC is offering both the flu shot and the flu nasal spray. It is important that all children get vaccinated every year. There will be no cost to you or your child for the flu vaccine/nasal spray at school. If applicable, payment from Medicaid will be made to DHEC on your behalf.

If you would like your child to get a flu vaccine or flu nasal spray at school:
1. Go to http://www.scdhec.gov/slvcconsent using your smartphone, computer or tablet to access the link.
2. Then, enter [14002093 ] as your validation code.
3. Complete the online consent and click “submit.”
(The online access will close on November 3rd.)

If your child is under the age of 9, he or she may need to get a second flu vaccine or flu nasal spray for the best protection. You will be notified if your child will need a second flu vaccine or flu nasal spray.  If your child does not receive the flu vaccine or flu nasal spray at school, please contact your child’s healthcare provider or health department to get the flu vaccine or nasal spray.

Did you know? Sandlapper Elementary has a dental program that can improve your child’s oral health. HPS is a group of Registered Dental Hygienists throughout the state that go into schools to clean teeth, apply fluoride, and place sealants. To have your child participate in the HPS dental program, please complete the consent form that comes home. Your child will be seen by the dental hygienist without missing valuable instructional time. After your child is seen, a letter will be sent home explaining the services that were provided and any additional information about your child’s oral health needs.
If you have a change of transportation for your child(ren), please complete the 2022-2023 Transportation Change Form prior to 2pm on the requested day. Changes in transportation will not be received after 2pm. If you would like to check your student out early, please be sure to complete the form prior to 2pm.
